Entain data: UK wagerers' belief in England's chances to win the Euro 2024

Despite the Three Lions taking first place in Group C, only 20% of UK bettors are supporting England as Euro 2024 advances, according to fresh data from Entain.

On the other hand, with 60% of their bets going to their home side, Portuguese supporters showed the highest amount of patriotism, followed by those from Spain (49%), Germany (44%), and France (30%).

Jude Bellingham's goal gave the Three Lions their lone victory in England's opening match against Serbia, making it the most heavily favoured game thus far.

According to Entain's monitoring of its UK sportsbooks, Coral and Ladbrokes, the number of bets on England to win the tournament outright has dropped from 21% in 2021 to 13% in 2024.

This drop indicates that British wagerers may have lost hope in the team following a dismal showing in the group stage.

In addition, compared to the same period in 2021, the amount of outright bets made by UK consumers on Euro 2024 has more than doubled (121%), suggesting increased fan interest in football.

Head of Sportsbook Analytics at Entain Jamie MacDonald commented on these statistics, saying: "There's no doubting that the Three Lions haven't had a great start to Euro 2024. That's precisely what the betting data shows, which is in stark contrast to the most nationalistic countries, like Germany, Portugal, and Spain, where supporters cheer for their own teams.

"Is it possible for England to save their country and return it home? With England hoping to light up the pitch as they head into the Round of 16 this weekend, everything is up for grabs. This event is all about our consumers having fun, being excited, and being delighted, which is what we want to see."
