The Gambling Commission proposes modifications to licences.

Under the existing setup, a personal account manager is assigned to each gambling company. But the Gambling Commission will abandon this approach in response to growing demand, creating four sub-committees that will handle various licencing phases and formats.

The following are the responsibilities of the four subgroups: Applications for new operator licences will be handled by the Operating Licence New Group; applications for current operators seeking to change their ownership or control will be handled by the Change of Corporate Control Group; Applications for modifications to current licences will be processed by the Operating Licence Vary Group; applications for personal licences will be processed by the Personal Licence Group.

The Commission has affirmed that the first application process would not change, even though the larger application process is scheduled to alter. However, postal applications will no longer be accepted.

The Commission provided an explanation of this shift in licence operation in a statement, saying, "We are changing our working practices to make the best use of our resources." We anticipate being able to process applications more quickly by operating in this manner. Additionally, we want to be able to respond to inquiries more quickly and effectively.

This statement follows the June 2022 release by the Commission of updated customer protection guidelines for operators. April saw the announcement of new regulations pertaining to consumers that pose a risk, which are scheduled to take effect on September 12, 2022.
