Twitch intends to further restrict gambling-related content on the network.

On October 18, a policy update would ban users from accessing streaming websites that feature games like slots, roulette, or dice that aren't authorised in the US or other jurisdictions "that offer adequate consumer protection."

As of right now, this comprises Roobet.com, Rollbit.com, Duelbits.com, and Stake.com. However, Twitch stated that more websites might be found and prohibited in the future.

Although it is currently against the law for users to provide referral codes or connections to any website that offers slots, roulette, or dice games, Twitch claims that some users have managed to get around this restriction.

The platform acknowledged that gambling-related steams have been a contentious issue in the community and said, "We've been actively reviewing gambling content on Twitch since our last policy update in this area."

Devin Nash, a social media celebrity and former Twitch streamer, is among those who are advocating for the total eradication of gambling from the network; however, this most recent change will not satisfy them.

"This is not a gambling ban," tweeted Nash in reaction to the policy change. Readers of headlines are misinterpreting this. The only websites that Twitch says are prohibited are those that "aren't licenced in the US," not luck-based gaming.

Sadly, this means that there will still be plenty of space for gambling on the website on October 18.

Nor is Nash incorrect. Twitch did confirm that websites that cater to poker, fantasy sports, and sports betting will be permitted to stay up.

To "make sure everyone is clear on our new rules before they take effect," as the platform puts it, Twitch plans to release the details of its most recent policy modification "soon."
